Well I am done with my first semester here at Bryant&Stratton. I really enjoyed the Professors that were assigned to me and I learned alot from them. Since being out of school for 37 years and relearning alot of stuff that I thought I forgot, I didn't do to bad. I really started enjoying going to class everyday and the knowledge I got from them. In this next semester I will put more focus on my major network technology to set myself up for a internship then next a job. So thank you Judith Hunely for helping me with my computer skills, and thank you Stephen Pelton for showing me how to do research and finding out how to look for information. Then there Molly Low " The Most Important Professor at Bryant&Stratton" she really help me the most in my first semester and showed alot of patience with me. I will have her next semester and looking forward to being with her again. In my major I will have professor Hammond again a man who is fantastic in his field of network technology This has been a rewarding experience show far and a lot of fun. So here's to the spring semester it should be a real blast.    

Career Post #5 my opinon

Multitasking has been around for a long time even during prehistoric time of the caveman. This is how they survived during this period. If you were a person of power like a king, or queen, or a prince, or someone in their status. Emperors and other people of high places were exempt, too this happened during the Greek and Roman times, the Dark Ages, and Renaissance times.Your status meant allot back then on how much had to do when it came to multitasking. Even during slavery days in our own country you had this.You had the field slave and house slave both had to multitask.

From the days of the Great Depression, Prohibition, World Wars I and II, and during the days of Jim Crow people multi tasked. The Unions tried to put a halt to this but were unsuccessful in there attempt in trying to professionalize the type of work you did.This resulted in higher wages less hours higher benefits in which most business could not afford and led most into bankruptcy.

Now that we are in the computer  age people are still multitasking. Even with all of the different programs, apps, and devices that are out. It is of my opinion that this will never go away and will be around for ever.There will always be people multitasking in every generation.

In the first article from science daily and the research done by the two professors at Boston College is sort of  not fair to the television. The television doesn't have nearly the amount of  apps or functions that a computer dose. With a computer you can pull up two or three different screens of material, research, and projects or assignments on your task bar or navigation pane. With a television all you can do is change the channels to different stations, and adjust the color, contrast and other adjustments on how you watch the screen. You can do the same type of adjustments on a computer plus more, so the computer will always win out. You will still have a split attention span on both  devices, but more of it will go to the computer.




The Doug Caverly focuses on concentration when you are multitasking. There are many ways a person can  do this type of action. You must be careful someone or a situation in which you will get distracted while you are multitasking will add to your thought process. This in turn will throw your concentration off depending on the person. Distractions affect both young and old, but depending on what you are doing distractions will affect older people more. Finally what type of attention span you have has a broad range and depends on the person. Dr. Adam Gazzaley who did the research on this subject of multitasking for; University of  California at San Francisco. He states that you may want to cut back on social media, smart phones, iPads and other devices to clear your mind.     

Facebook Addiction

In the article by Jill Laster she talks about medical students and residents who party to much. They post their pictures and exploits on Facebook for all the world to see. It is their right to do so, but just
like anything else you can go to far and there are limitations. Peoples feelings and rights the colleges
reputation. Sometimes the schools have to clamp down on the students to protect themselves, and there other schools and do nothing. When you take pictures of yourself with dead cadavers and post them online is sort of ok. It all depends on how you do it because it is suppose to be in the sprit of humor and not taken seriously. Allof that gose away when you take dead people from their graves to do this. Then it's not funny any more, and Universitys should take some sort action. When you are partying and drinking booze you don't thnk of that, because alcohol won't let you



I found this article on Huffington Post web site about Facebook addicition by this woman name
Tara Stiles. In her article called " Help! I'm Addicted FaceBook"! She admits to being hooked on
Facebook. Everytime she went on her computer to do her assignments she found herself going on
Facebook to chat with friends even people she didn't know. In this article she list ten ways that to
know when you addicted.

1. Facebook is your home page
2. You update your status more than twice a day
3. You have over 500 friends half of whom you've nerver actually met
4. As soon as you step away from your computer you're on Facebook phone
5. Your a Facebook stalker. You qualify if you
           a) click on someone's profile more than once a day
           b) have dragged and dropped more than three Facebook photos
           c) actually go to a place mentioned on someone's page in hopes of seeing them in real life.
               Now that's real creepy!
6. You change your profile picture more than a 12 year old girl
7. You have checked your Facebook page while reading this article
8. You clean up "wall " so it looks like you spend less time on Facebook
9. You are a member of more than 10 groups and respondevery invitation. Even if you aren't going!
10. You change your relationship status just to mess with people


I would say that Ms. Stiles is hooked; don't you think so? I would also say that it is her right to be on
Facebook. Whom am I to judge her or anybody else to use this social media; more power to Ya!
All I can do is speak for me, myself, and I, It's not for me. As for the college students pick and choose your silly pranks wisely.

Network Technology

I still have a lot more to learn on this subject, but as the semester closes out I am getting more knoledgable on my major. Professor Hammond is being very patient with me. It still all depends
on me, there is to much at stake not to get my degree. I plan to do better in the spring.

The media has changed over the millinium, for several reasons. The first is that in the early years, it was hard for reporters to seek sources to report on a news story. When they did get a story, the sources had to be verified by the reporter and edtior in the same day. Sometimes with good or bad results depending on the story, in short the early days the information and technology was not reliable. That is because the technology was in it infancy.


In todays world the media will find you because of, cellphones, websites, blogs,facebook, twitter  and other sources of technology that the media uses. People are addicted in this world of new age media
and technology, It's every where you go in your everyday life and there is pretty much no escaping it in today's world.


Weather it's about North Korea  and there crazy leader Kim Jong Un. Or the Islamic war between the Shite or Suni tribes in the middle east. Even the Russian's helping rebles to over throw the country of Ukrane to expand there lost empier, of the old  Soviet Union. All information is on the social media to recrute people to there way of thinking.


Weather it's on your PC, Cellphone, or Laptop you have to be careful on what you say. Because people are addicted to this type of stuff. There is always some one listening or watching what you say or do on facebook, twitter, YouTube,or any other means of social media. Beware even the Federal Government is watching and listening, The world has changed, our younger generation is the new world order of social media.

Network Technology

Network Technology is a vast ocean of information and communacation. The whole planet earth is
connected in ways we have never seen before. The United States, China, Japan, India, South Koera,
and Russia are the countries leading the way in this. Europe is also not far behind in this ever expanding technology of the furture. There are so many search engines on the internet and world
wide web that it boggles the mind. I soon plan on doing some research on the U.S. on  this subject,
my focous will be on the angency called DARPA. I"ll see what I can turn up on different search
engines about this department in our government. More to come

Network Technology

So far my experience here at bryant&stratton has been good. I am starting to see how all the different
course's are coming together for my major in network technology. The APA formmating is standard
procedure here, so I must learn it, and know it. Between professor Low and Pelton I will learn it.
A steady pace will be a sucessful format for me, and my comprehenson skills will get better as
time gose on.

My orginal goal when I first thought about comming to Bryant&Stratton, was to just get my license
to be a security gaurd. But after talking to the admisson staff got me excited about network technology. There are a lot of opertunities in this area, with different companies in and around
monroe county. So I choose to get into this field ready to go to work, an get my degree in this
field. Even though it has been a long time since I graduated from high school, I'am really
commited to seeing my goal through.


So far I'am happy with my progression and learning from other instructor's, and students who
are younger than me. But that only makes me more passoinate about my future and goals at
Bryant&Stratton. As you can see I have set up my blog and will be doing more work for you
as are class moves forward. Remember one thing " keep your eye on the prize".
